Vondelpark Amsterdam

Amsterdam
Vondelpark Amsterdam

The Vondelpark is Amsterdam's most famous park. It stretches all the way from the Leidseplein to the Amstelveenseweg, literally cutting the southern part of the city in two.The park is very popular with tourists who can enjoy the quiet from within the city, for people with little children because of the many playgrounds and splendid animals, and the joggers, cyclists and skaters. Vondelpark was named after the great Dutch writer and poet Johannes van den Vondel. Close to the Vondelpark we find the Vondelstraat and the Vondelkerk. On the Overtoom side one can find the Film museum. In the high season the Music Theater gives many performances of local and international artists and it's completely free to watch! This is only one of the things which gives the park it's special atmosphere. The well known Concertgebouworkest which happens every year is an open-air concert in the park and it attracts hundreds of people.
