Este museu fica localizado atrás da Kalverstraat, a famosa rua comecial da cidade, dez minutos a pé da Estação Central (Centraal Station). O museu possui diversas coleções de arte e pinturas da Idade de Ouro de Amsterdam. Uma recente exposição foi dedicada à história da mulher no lar. O museu possui também, em exibição, material audio-visual e mídia interativa.
